Customer's cPanel says “You are logged in using the root or reseller password”
Solution

This message could indicate one of three things:

  1. If this message only appears when the reseller logs in from WHM (using the cP icon under “List Accounts”), this message is normal.

  2. If the message appears in phpMyAdmin and Softaculous, it’s also normal, as the reseller owner is not allowed to access those specific tools. (If you, as the reseller, want access to those tools, you can log in to the client’s cPanel directly with actual cPanel username and password).

  3. However, if the above message shows on the main page of cPanel, even when your client logs in, then the client’s password is the same as the reseller’s password. The reseller should change the WHM password to a unique password.
