Online payment gateways offer convenient ways to take payment from customers for goods and services. PayPal, Google Checkout and other gateways provide HTML code that embed ecommerce features on your site, such as Add to Basket and Checkout buttons.
These HTML snippets can be placed on individual Joomla! posts and pages, or you can choose to create an HTML module that can be called dynamically using the {loadposition myposition} command.
In this guide, we’ll walk through the steps required to add a PayPal button to Joomla! You’ll find the steps are very similar for other popular payment gateways.
Using the TinyMCE editor
Joomla’s content editor, TinyMCE, is simple to use but strips HTML code when pasted into the editing panel. When you save the post or page, you’ll see that the HTML code is discarded.
To prevent this issue, first visit Users > Manage, select your account, and click Edit.
Click the Editor dropdown menu and select Editor – None. This disables the TinyMCE editor on your account. Save your selection.
Now head back to your post or page via the Content menu. Paste the HTML code into the editing panel.
You can now save the article.
Return to the Users > Manage menu and revert the Editor selection to TinyMCE.
