HostPapa’s email services support POP and IMAP accounts, which are protocols used to send and receive emails.

If you want to change your email account from POP3 to IMAP on Android 8 (Oreo), you can do so in a few simple steps.

In this article, we’ll show you how to back up your mailboxes, delete your POP account, and set up and edit your IMAP account settings. These steps will work for Outlook 2013, Outlook 2016, Outlook 2019, and Outlook 365.

Back up your mailboxes

Switching from a POP3 connection to an IMAP account could delete your existing emails. To avoid losing anything important, you should create a backup of your mailboxes before making this change. We recommend you backup your email on a C or Mac using the instructions in the most relevant Knowledge Base article for your setup:

Delete your POP account from your computer

Once your backup is complete, you can delete the POP account on Android. You should also delete the account on other devices you use for email.

  1. Open the Android Settings menu.
