DNS (Domain Name System) is the component of the Internet that converts human-readable domain names (e.g. example.com) into computer-readable IP addresses (e.g. 22.214.171.124). DNS uses zone files, that reside on your server, to map domain names to IP addresses.
To be able to edit records in your DNS zone at the registrar, you will need to point your domain to the registrar’s nameservers. Use the following guide to learn how to configure your domain’s DNS records: https://www.hostpapa.com/knowledgebase/how-to-re-point-your-domain-name/
In order to activate HostPapa Basic or Advanced Email, you will need to redirect your MX record to the server you want your email to go to. Instructions on how to do this are provided below. If you are unsure of any step in this process, please contact HostPapa Customer Care and we will be happy to assist you.
You can edit your MX Records directly from your HostPapa dashboard. To redirect your MX record, log in to your HostPapa Dashboard: https://www.hostpapa.com/dashboard
Click My cPanel.
If you have more than one hosting package, select the cPanel account associated with the hosting plan for which you purchased HostPapa Basic/Advanced Email.
In the Domains section, click the Zone Editor icon.
Click Manage under the domain for which you wish to modify the MX record.
Your domain zones will be listed. If an MX record has yet to be created for the domain, click the arrow next to + Add Record and select Add MX Record.
Alternatively, if an MX record already exists for the domain, locate it in the list of records and select the Edit button. Look for “MX” in the Type column to identify an MX record.
Add or edit the record using the following details:
- Priority: 0 (zero).
- Destination: mx.example.com.cust.a.hostedemail.com
Click the Add Record/Save Record button to continue.
Now test your email to make sure it is being correctly received.
