Now that you’ve switched from IBM® Notes™ to Google Workspace, here are some tips on beginning to use Google Calendar to manage your events.
How to create events:
- In IBM Notes Calendar users can create a new calendar entry as a meeting and send the invitation to guests.
- In Google Calendar users can create an event in Google Calendar. When you save the event, your guests receive an email invitation.
How to schedule video meetings:
- In IBM Notes Calendar users can schedule a meeting with the use of IBM Sametime or Smartcloud for voice and video conferencing.
- In Google Calendar users can add a video call.
- Use Google Meet to add a video call to your event.
How to share calendars:
- In IBM Notes Calendar users can grant sharing permissions from your computer with IBM Notes installed.
- In Google Calendar users can share calendars by:
- Granting sharing permissions online at calendar.google.com
- Sharing a link to your calendar, such as through email or Google Meet
- Embedding on a website
What sharing visibility is available:
- In IBM Notes Calendar users can change the sharing visibility to:
- Specific people or Contact groups
- Everyone
- In Google Calendar users can change the sharing visibility to:
- Specific people or Google Groups
- Public (web search)
- Specific people in your domain (domain search)
- People who don’t use Google Calendar
What are the access permissions:
- In IBM Notes Calendar users can change the access permissions to:

- Read (view only)
- In Google Calendar users can change the access permissions to:
- Make changes and manage sharing (full access)
- Make changes to events
- See all event details (view only)
- See free/busy information (no details)
What are the customizable views:
- In IBM Notes Calendar users can customize the view to:
- 1 day
- 2 days
- Week (or Work Week)
- Month
- Weekly Planner
- In Google Calendar users can customize the view to:
- Day
- Week (optional: exclude weekends)
- Month
- Agenda
- Custom view (between 2–7 days, or 2–4 weeks)
You can access your calendar from any computer, smartphone, or tablet.
On your computer:
- Users can access IBM Notes Calendar from the computer where it’s installed.
- Users can access Calendar from any computer with Internet access.
On the web:
- Users can access IBM Notes Calendar on the web via mail.wdc.in (a web-based version of IBM Notes) from the computer where it’s installed.
- Users can access In Google Calendar through web browsers on any device at calendar.google.com.
On your mobile devices:
- Users can access IBM Notes Calendar from mobile devices by installing and opening the IBM Notes Traveler app.
- Users can access In Google Calendar from mobile devices by installing and opening the Calendar app.
