Uploading a Favicon

Note: This article refers to the legacy version of the Website Builder. If you signed up to the HostPapa Website Builder after March 11 2020, you’re on the new version of the Website Builder. For help, go here.

To add your own favicon to your site:
1. Click on Settings > Properties.

2. Click on the Edit Favicon button. A list of uploaded files is displayed.

3. Select an uploaded image or click the Upload Files button to upload an image to the website and then select the newly uploaded image. Note: Website Builder will automatically resize and reformat the selected image to fit the requirements of a Favicon. It is not necessary to manually resize the image.

4. To see what your favicon will look like, click the Select button. The list of uploaded files closes, and a preview image appears beside the Edit Favicon button. The content of the article below the screencap does not need updating.

Once you have selected your favicon, it will appear in the address bar of the web browser and in the browser tab for every page of your site.

Please note: Internet Explorer does not allow favicons to be displayed next to your URL, on the tab or the window. The favicon will be displayed if the site is bookmarked and in your Favourites folder. The best option would be to change to Firefox which does show the favicons in all three areas.

If you would like more information on how to create a cross browser favicon, please check out this tutorial: What to do if your uploaded favicon doesn’t display.
